Young Church

NCYC 2009This page is dedicated to the young Catholic Church of St. Mary.  We will use this page to let you know about upcoming events.  We hope you stop by often.

Middle School (6th to 8th grades) youth meet on the first Wednesday of the month, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in St. Mary's Gym.

The Way is for Senior High youth.  THE WAY meets on the last Wednesday of the month, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Beginning in August, Senior High meets in The Living Room (upstairs in the Parish Center).

In between, there are other chances to get involved, to have fun, to serve.  So check back often!  We get together all summer long.

If you want to ask a question or make a suggestion, then the person you want to contact is Bethany, St. Mary's Youth Minister.  You can e-mail her at youthminister@acegroup.cc or call her at the Parish Office, 507-725-3804.

Bethany RubenzerThe needy will never be lacking in the land; that is why I command you to open your hand to your poor and needy kinsman in your country. Deuteronomy 15:11

One of the biggest things that we are called to do as Christians is to serve others. Jesus, while he was here on earth, served people.

Service is more than doing things for one another.  It’s about being with people and getting to know them. We should sit down listen to their stories, get to know them, hear where they come from, what they like, and get to know the person.

Sometimes, we are helping someone accomplish something they might not have been able to do by themselves. We might be giving them that meal they could not provide for themselves or their family that night. Sometimes, we might be the one person that noticed them and talked with them that day.

I think instead of looking at service for what can we bring and do for others, we should ask, what and how is this touching my life?  How is it forming me?  Service is more than helping the person and accomplishing the task, it’s about getting to know the person and allowing them to change our hearts!
